TeleCommunication Systems, Inc.: TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. Launches smsExpress(TM) MVP for Wireless Carrier Enterprise-to
ANNAPOLIS, MD--(Marketwire - April 1, 2009) - CTIA - Booth # 8706 -- TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (
The smsExpress MVP platform integrates enterprise content generated via email, web pages or machine-to-machine, and provides an enriched user experience. The platform also supports the same interface used by enterprises to send messages to pagers, allowing the enterprise to move paging traffic to wireless phones and eliminate the cost of pagers. The MVP is built using industry-standard interfaces and interoperates with most Short Message Service Center (SMSC) equipment. Today, the SMSC is a key revenue-generating wireless carrier data network element, and requires insulation from sudden, unexpected bursts of messages that are often associated with enterprise and mobile marketing. The smsExpress MVP employs a robust set of throttling mechanisms to protect the downstream SMSC from congestion. In addition, these throttling mechanisms also enable unique wireless carrier Service Level Agreements for each enterprise customer.
The smsExpress MVP service delivery platform also includes an enterprise-facing web portal that allows enterprise personnel to create simple text messages such as campus alerts, product use information or rich multimedia content containing mobile coupons and map images. Utilizing the TCS authentication engine, smsExpress MVP validates enterprise message senders and provides a secure, trusted method for mass delivery of high-capacity messaging. Even more importantly, the MVP platform keeps carriers in control of their networks and customer experience. Message volumes and revenues are tightly controlled and carriers can prioritize what, when, and how much data travels over their networks. Unlike revenue sharing with content aggregators, smsExpress MVP allows wireless operators to bypass the added cost of messaging aggregators while stimulating more messaging service revenues.
"TCS introduced the smsExpress MVP to allow our wireless carrier customers to create or expand their Enterprise-to-Phone business," said Timothy J. Lorello, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for TCS. "This new platform supports rich messaging content and enables enterprises to not only replace pagers and reach employees with critical information, but it also can send mass delivery of consumer information including mobile coupons, product recalls, and campus alerts. Most importantly, it will enable carriers to directly generate enterprise premium messaging service revenues."
TCS will demonstrate the uses and benefits of smsExpress MVP in Booth 8706 at CTIA WIRELESS 2009 taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center, April 1-3.
