ANNAPOLIS, MD--(Marketwire - November 17, 2008) - TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: [ TSYS ]), a leading provider of mission-critical wireless communications, today announced that the World Teleport Association (WTA), a leading organization that focuses on the business of satellite communications from the ground up, has named TCS to its prestigious "Global Top Twenty," "Independent Top Twenty" and "Fast Twenty" rankings this year. New to the "Global Top Twenty," TCS ranked fifteenth on this prestigious list of companies based on revenues from all customized communications sources and includes operators of teleports, satellite fleets and fiber networks. TCS moved up from fifteenth in 2007 to seventh in 2008 on the "Independent Top Twenty" which ranks companies based on total revenue from all sources, but excludes companies whose core business is ownership and operation of a satellite fleet or terrestrial network. In addition, the company made the "Fast Twenty" list for the third consecutive year which ranks all teleport-operating companies based on year-over-year revenue growth in their most recent fiscal years.
