SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - March 31, 2009) - Kerio Technologies, Inc., a leading innovator in Internet security and messaging, today announced a new version of Kerio WinRoute Firewall, a Windows-based Unified Threat Management (UTM) gateway security solution. This version premieres a cross-platform Kerio VPN Client for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, addressing a growing need to provide secure VPN connectivity to the mobile workforce with diverse OS platforms.

"More than ever, SMBs require cost-effective solutions that provide comprehensive network security, ease of use, and increased mobility and reliability," said Andrew J. Hanson, Associate Research Analyst, Security Products for IDC. "While Kerio WinRoute Firewall already provides SMBs with many features, the new version gives customers flexibility to provide secure VPN access to critical business information irrespective of the platform, by supporting Windows, Mac, and Linux environments."

"We've switched customers from Microsoft ISA Server to Kerio WinRoute Firewall because the value proposition for the SMB customer was so much more robust," said Thomas Meriam, co-founder of F1 Experts, a VAR and IT consultancy based in Denville, New Jersey. "We like to pitch Kerio WinRoute Firewall when the customer is looking for a well-balanced security solution and the new Kerio VPN Client for Mac and Linux makes that argument more compelling than ever. Configuring multi-sites with Kerio WinRoute is a snap allowing for easy file sharing to and from multiple file server locations."

"Many of our customers want to establish persistent VPN tunnels with offsite servers to ensure encrypted connectivity with their local network. The ability of the new Kerio VPN Client to run automatically as a service allows those Mac, Linux or Windows servers to instantly reconnect after a reboot," said Jan Jezek, product development manager for Kerio Technologies, Inc. "The new VPN server and multi-platform VPN Client in Kerio WinRoute Firewall also addresses the increasing popularity of alternative OS platforms in the workplace."

Available now for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, the Kerio VPN Client is offered at no additional cost to valid license holders of Kerio WinRoute Firewall 6.6. Kerio WinRoute Firewall ships with user management, gateway antivirus, VPN, bandwidth control, Internet link load balancer and gateway firewall. Customers can choose from 16 languages, including Chinese and Japanese.
