After a thorough evaluation of competing systems, the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) selected iSECUREtrac's [ System 5000 ]® for the GPS monitoring of high-risk juveniles. Equipped with on-board intelligence, the System 5000® stores compliance parameters inside the unit and provides real-time violation alerts through a cellular network. The System is approximately the size of a PDA or MP3 player and can be carried in a backpack, purse or pocket. This unit is particularly appropriate for use with juveniles where there may be some concern of stereotyping them as felons or sex offenders when they carry bulkier, more conspicuous tracking devices.
In addition to the System 5000® monitoring device, the DJS has contracted with iSECUREtrac to investigate and resolve common violations. Through its Monitoring Center Intervention service, iSECUREtrac's professionally trained staff will contact juveniles directly and attempt to clear up violations without the involvement of a DJS officer. If iSECUREtrac is unable to successfully resolve the violation, it will be escalated to the DJS. All interactions between iSECUREtrac and non-compliant juveniles will be recorded, stored and available for review by the DJS.
