ANNAPOLIS, MD--(Marketwire - February 5, 2009) - TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: [ TSYS ]), a leading provider of mission-critical wireless communications, today announced the company signed in 2008 multiple long-term agreements with wireless carriers throughout the United States for its Enhanced 9-1-1 solutions (E9-1-1). TCS now provides Hosted Mobile Positioning Center (MPC) and Hosted Position Determining Entity (HPDE) capabilities for E9-1-1 customers including regional wireless providers Bluegrass Cellular, Flat Wireless, NTCH-Cleartalk-Colorado and nationwide wireless provider Cricket Communications.

TCS has offered its integrated MPC and HPDE solution longer than any other E9-1-1 vendor in the industry. Today, TCS provides E9-1-1 service to more than 100 million subscribers in the United States for more than 35 wireless carriers and handles more than 150,000 life saving calls daily.

"We are committed to helping wireless carriers meet their obligations for wireless E9-1-1 while providing accurate and reliable emergency services that wireless consumers expect," said Dan Allen, Senior Vice President, Service Bureau for TCS. "In 2008, we expanded our E9-1-1 footprint throughout the country. This is based on our ability to provide the most advanced technologies available on the market today as well as a past performance track record that is second to none."

TCS' E9-1-1 solution enables wireless operators to comply with Phase I and Phase II of the FCC's Wireless E9-1-1 mandate, while providing the life-saving emergency services and security that wireless consumers expect. Using the efficient, open architecture of TCS' award-winning Xypoint® Location Platform, TCS enables wireless operators to properly route wireless E9-1-1 calls to over 6500 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) across the nation and then delivers the wireless E9-1-1 call location information to the appropriate PSAP.
