TeleCommunication Systems, Inc.: City of Baltimore Extends Contract With TCS to Provide Enterprise-Wide Network Systems and Sup

ANNAPOLIS, MD--(Marketwire - January 15, 2009) - TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: [ TSYS ]), a leading provider of mission-critical wireless communications and Information Technology professional services, today announced that the City of Baltimore has exercised a one-year contract extension worth approximately $6 million for city-wide network and systems support. The contract, signed in 2005, included three base years with the option to exercise two one-year extensions.

TCS has been a technology outsource vendor to Baltimore City government since 1998. TCS has been responsible for implementing the City's Strategic Information Technology Plan for complex network systems integration, while maintaining high standards for operational capability and performance. TCS provides the City of Baltimore with IT support and services across organizations including the City of Baltimore Mayor's Office of Information Technology, Department of Public Works, Health Department, Police Department, Enoch Pratt Free Library, and the Baltimore City Police and Fire Retirement system.

Specific TCS services under the contract include: design, installation and management of Wide Area Networks (WANs) and Local Area Networks (LANs); enterprise server services that include anti-virus and content filters; BlackBerry® support; patch support; technical helpdesk support including network hardware and software maintenance; desktop hardware/software installation and integration; application development; systems integration; Java/Oracle and legacy database development and maintenance; and citywide Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) services.
