SAN MATEO, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Keynote® Systems (Nasdaq: KEYN), the global leader in on-demand mobile and [ Internet test & measurement solutions ] for continuously improving the [ online experience ], today announced Mobile Application Perspective® (MAP) 3.0, a cost-effective on-demand service for real-time interactive testing, monitoring and diagnosing of mobile content utilizing a library of over 1,600 wireless device profiles. Keynote has long been the leader in this field providing the world's leading mobile operators hosted, real time testing and monitoring solutions with Keynote GlobalRoamer. With MAP 3.0, Keynote now offers the ideal solution for mobile portals, applications and service providers. MAP 3.0 introduces features for monitoring and diagnosing the performance of person-to-person SMS text messaging, common short codes (CSC) and mobile Web sites. MAP 3.0 advances the state-of-the-art in the world of mobile test and measurement services and highlights Keynote's market position as The Mobile and Internet Performance Authority™.

About Keynote Mobile Application Perspective® 3.0

Mobile Application Perspective 3.0 includes powerful new capabilities for monitoring the performance of text messages – also known as SMS for short message service -- from the perspective of whether or not a message has been successfully transmitted and received on the other end, and for diagnosing performance transmission problems when they do occur. MAP 3.0 users now have access to detailed performance metrics regarding the end-to-end transmission of a text message and can also view a snapshot of the received message in order to validate content delivery.

SMS, the fastest growing form of mobile communication, is used by billions of people around the world for a variety of information sharing. Sending content to friends and colleagues is simply a click away. "MAP is a great tool for testing and monitoring the end-to-end SMS transaction," said Nisheeth Mohan, mobile product manager at Keynote. "As an example, I can send a link to a New York Times article via text message and then on the receiving side, with MAP 3.0, validate that the text message was received and that the proper article was downloaded and correctly displayed on the wireless device. This is valuable insight for mobile content providers who encourage information sharing, care about their brand image and need assurance that they are delivering a great mobile experience to their customers," said Mohan.

MAP 3.0 can even initiate a transaction from the Internet and follow it through to a mobile device emulating the experience of consumers who purchase and/or download ringtones, games or mobile coupons from their PC and complete the transaction on their handsets. This provides an enterprise's mobile operations group charged with ensuring optimal performance a real time detailed view of the combined internet and mobile transaction. "No other company can match Keynote in monitoring the convergence of mobile and Internet services," said Mohan.

MAP Offers User Customization

Another enhancement in MAP 3.0 is the ability to customize the capabilities within MAP for Common Short Code (CSC) monitoring. Users who monitor CSCs for speed and reliability can now take advantage of "extended time outs" to capture a comprehensive view of the end-user's experience that includes broad variations in latency. "The time sensitivity of a CSC is different for every player in the Short Code value chain" said Sholmi Gian, Keynote's director of mobile business development. "The needs of a company running a contest or selling a product are much different than those of a company gathering information -- Keynote now allows the customer to structure the appropriate CSC monitoring and testing capabilities provided in MAP to meet their exact business requirements," said Gian.

MAP 3.0 provides businesses that rely on mobile services the tools they need for traceability and root cause analysis. Version 3.0 provides detailed, diagnostic information from the source code showing the cause of poor performance and visual snapshots of the mobile page at the moment a problem occurs. Operational professionals will very quickly appreciate this new-found and very useful visibility.

SMS Monitoring, On Demand – An Industry First

By building these new capabilities into Mobile Application Perspective 3.0, Keynote is now able to offer these services to a wider array of customers, especially content developers, aggregators and enterprises. Prior to this release, customers were limited to either a real device solution such as Keynote's Mobile Device Perspective or large core network testing systems such Keynote SITE system targeted to mobile operators. The expansion of Keynote MAP capabilities underscores the company's market position as the leading provider of the largest and most geographically diverse on-demand network for testing and measuring mobile and traditional Web site performance. It also highlights the company's unique ability to support the testing and monitoring needs of the entire mobile ecosystem.

Global Capabilities

Keynote and its subsidiary [ Keynote SIGOS ] provide customers with the ability to test mobile performance on over 200 mobile networks across more than 70 countries. Keynote's global network is comprised of real and simulated devices, user-provided SIMs and wireless modems, providing an unparalleled and customizable view into the performance of operator networks, mobile content, applications and services.
