OptiCon Systems, Inc. : OptiCon (OPCN) Signs Exclusive Agent Agreement With Develco of South Africa
GRAPEVINE, TX--(Marketwire - February 5, 2009) - OptiCon Systems, Inc. (
The growth of fiber network communications in South Africa is at its infant stage. As the Soccer World Cup Tournament is scheduled to begin in July of 2010, and telecommunications companies are moving away from Copper, companies are aggressively working on fiber infrastructure to improve the quality of their telecommunications systems in South Africa and also the African continent as a whole. Currently a planned national long-distance fiber optic network of 5,000km connecting the major centers across South Africa is in process. Additionally, there are at least 5 major companies laying fiber optic network systems in the country and these companies are just beginning to start providing services to new customers. The potential market in Africa for fiber optic related products and services are in Billions of Dollars.
"This agreement with Develco will give OptiCon a strategic partner to establish a sales and marketing network selling the OptiCon Fiber Optic Management System while the fiber is in the process of being deployed throughout South Africa. This gives OptiCon a clearly defined opportunity to work closely with the companies laying fiber in South Africa. We can deliver to them the most cutting-edge fiber optic network management system in the market today," stated Sam Talari, Chairman of OptiCon Systems, Inc.
