ADC Expands IP-RAN Solutions Penetration Worldwide
MINNEAPOLIS--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--ADC (NASDAQ: ADCT) ([ www.adc.com ]) today announced that its all IP-RAN solutions portfolio has gained strong acceptance across global regions, applications, and customer types. ADC's entire wireless portfolio will be on display in booth 2B61 at the Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona, Spain on February 16 through 19, 2009.
With the successful integration of LGC Wireless in 2008, ADC has experienced 42 percent wireless sales growth over the past two years as products such as [ InterReach Fusion ]®, [ FlexWave ]™ [ Prism, ] and [ FlexWave™ BSS ] are delivering compelling service quality with attractive economics for carriers, municipal agencies, and enterprises worldwide.
ADC is the only global network infrastructure supplier with a complete portfolio of pico and micro cellular network products, including in-building and outdoor distributed antenna systems (DAS), IP-based pico and micro base stations (BSS), wireless backhaul, and WiMAX products. When used alone or in combination, these products provide vital cellular coverage in locations that are difficult or impossible to serve with traditional macro networks and enable carriers to cost-effectively extend network coverage and migrate to 4G services. With well over a billion mobile devices in use worldwide, such coverage solutions are essential to the continued growth and evolution of cellular broadband and voice services.
"As the world migrates to mobile broadband and application requirements soar, mobile operators and owners of public and private facilities must find ways to deliver precision, high-performance coverage in any location, whether it is indoors, underground, or in other areas where typical macro network signals can't reach," said Dick Parran, president of the Network Solutions Business Unit for ADC. "The broad range of deployments of our micro cellular network solution portfolio worldwide demonstrates that customers have a large appetite for coverage and capacity solutions that deliver high performance, service flexibility, and a low total cost of ownership."
InterReach Fusion Solves In-Building Coverage, Capacity Challenges
Deployments of ADC's InterReach Fusion systems have significantly grown as municipal agencies, building owners, enterprises, and universities seek to deliver strong and consistent cellular coverage and capacity in stadiums, subways, office buildings, hospitals, and campus buildings. Recent deployments of InterReach Fusion systems across the globe include the Denver Convention Center and Mile High Stadium (sites of the 2008 Democratic National Convention in the United States), City of Dreams in Macau, The Palazzo Las Vegas in the United States, and the Netherlands Ministry of Agriculture. Other deployments include the Southern Adventist University in the United States and at over 40 sites in Kenya, including the famous 14-storey Landmark Plaza in Nairobi.
These venues selected InterReach Fusion because it offers multi-carrier coverage with a single set of electronics, and because its active, Ethernet-like architecture simplifies and reduces the cost of deployment and allows for amplifier placement near the user while enabling end-to-end alarming and monitoring.
FlexWave Prism Delivers Campus and Metro Cellular Coverage
As carriers migrate to 3G and 4G service technologies, they are relying increasingly on ADC's FlexWave Prism outdoor DAS to provide next-gen network augmentation and coverage in macro network "blank spots" such as dense urban canyons, campuses, along roadsides and in coastal areas, in suburban areas, stadiums and large public venues. Recently, carriers have deployed ADC outdoor DAS systems in such locations as Duke University in the United States, the Xcel Energy Center (site of the 2008 Republican National Convention in the United States), and in residential areas of Jakarta, Indonesia. Trials of the Prism solution also are underway in Europe.
In addition to ADC's [ in-building ] and [ outdoor ] DAS solutions, the company's IP-RAN portfolio includes FlexWave BSS and UltraWave base station products, FlexWave MMW (millimeter wave) wireless outdoor connectivity solutions, and FlexWave WiMAX solutions for delivering 4G services. ADC has gained many carrier customers who deliver services in remote or isolated areas and on ships with the company's base station products, while its MMW and WiMAX solutions are currently in trials with major carriers worldwide.
This comprehensive portfolio is supported by ADC's copper and fiber connectivity solutions for wireless networks around the world. With more than 600 patents, ADC's innovative connectivity solutions enable a broad range of wired and wireless applications for voice, video, and data communications.
