AMCC?s Pemaquid 10G Metro Ethernet Framer/Mapper/PHY Named 2008 Product of the Year? by Electronic Products Magazine
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (NASDAQ:AMCC), a global leader in silicon solution to process transport and store applications, announced today that the newest member of its MEtrON family, the [ Pemaquid ] 10-Gigabit Ethernet device ([ S19258 ]), has been awarded Electronic Products magazine's [ 2008 "Product of the Year" ] Award.
The editors of Electronic Products — a leading trade publication for electronic design engineers — evaluated thousands of products launched in 2008. The winning products were selected on the basis of innovative design, significant advancement in technology or application and substantial achievement in price and performance. Pemaquid demonstrated success in the digital IC category because it's the industry's first chip to enable surging volumes of Ethernet traffic to be [ mapped directly ] onto transport networks with greater efficiency. The Pemaquid is ideally suited for carrier grade equipment deployed at the network edge including [ Metro-Ethernet switch/routers ], OTU2 DWDM client tributary and line cards, and 10GbE/OC-192 multi-service provisioning platforms (MSPPs).
