Commerzbank International S.A., CB LUX Group Services Improves Data Replication and Recovery with FalconStor NSS and FalconStor
MELVILLE, N.Y.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--FalconStor Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: FALC), the provider of TOTALLY Open™ data protection solutions, today announced that CB LUX Group Services, the IT service department of Commerzbank International S.A., the leading bank for private and corporate banking in Luxembourg, has implemented FalconStor® Virtual Tape Library (VTL) and FalconStor Network Storage Server (NSS) to improve data protection for its VMware environment and Microsoft Windows servers.
Managing storage capacity of 200 terabytes and faced with a projected 25 percent annual data increase, CB LUX Group Services recognized that its existing tape backup technology was no longer adequate enough to accommodate its growing data needs. CB LUX Group Services also had to manage over 100 VMware virtual machines. The deployment of FalconStor VTL and FalconStor NSS has enabled CB LUX Group Services to virtualize their servers, tapes and disks, effectively reducing the server backup window while also addressing the backup, failover, and recovery of their virtual servers.
"For our tape library, we needed more drives and needed to be able to share the drives. We were also looking for a solution that could address backup, failover, and recovery of our VMware environment," said Patrick Sibilio, IT assistant manager for CB LUX Group Services. If we lose data we can easily recover using snapshots instead of enduring the long process of recovering from tape."

FalconStor VTL has addressed the backup window challenge for CB LUX Group Services and allows the financial institution to have an unlimited number of tape drives without additional investment in hardware. It also allows the company to add more libraries without additional software investments.
For data protection of Commerzbank's VMware servers, storage integration and awareness of both the virtual environment and its application were essential to effectively protect application data, since data and transactions reside in a virtual layer. CB LUX Group Services found that the application-aware snapshots in FalconStor NSS efficiently protected their virtual and physical data, providing 100 percent transactional integrity and ensuring data availability and rapid recovery.
