TAMPA, Fla.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--[ Syniverse Technologies ] (NYSE:SVR) announced today its successful participation in the GSM Association's (GSMA) Open Connectivity Roaming Hub Trial. Demonstrating the strength of its roaming hub services, Syniverse completed a greater level of testing than any other vendor and, after a successful assessment by the GSMA, was awarded certification as a roaming hub provider registered under the GSMA AD.23 self-certification program. Syniverse is a leading provider of technology and business solutions for the global telecommunications industry.

The trial was designed to test and prove the effectiveness of roaming hubs and the processes of conducting business with roaming partners.

The unmatched flexibility and range of roaming hub services offered by Syniverse to suit the varying needs of mobile operators was underlined by the fact that Syniverse participated in the trial with six operators in four countries on three continents. Moreover, it was the only hub services provider to successfully test its roaming hub in three technical architectures – the most of any operator.

"The outstanding results of Syniverse's trial participation on a global scale, especially when coupled with Syniverse contributions in defining standards for the GSMA Open Connectivity project, clearly demonstrate our leadership in roaming hub services and our strong commitment to delivering operators significant technical, financial and go-to-market benefits in the dynamic mobile roaming environment," said Tony Holcombe, President and CEO, Syniverse.

Via a single business and technical relationship with a [ roaming hub ], such as the one tested by Syniverse, operators not only are ensured service interoperability between each other but also are able to vastly reduce overall operational complexity, while quickly and cost-effectively expanding network reach around the world. A wider global footprint means seamless access to voice and data services for subscribers in more places whenever they travel.

"Once a mobile operator has connected to a hub, its customers will then be able to roam on the networks of all the other operators connected either directly or indirectly to that hub," said Alex Sinclair, Chief Technology Officer, GSMA. "This is a significant improvement over the current approach where operators have to establish one-to-one bilateral connections with every roaming partner."

Syniverse's extensive leadership and direct involvement in the GSMA working groups, including chairmanships of the Transferred Account Data Interchange Group (TADIG) and the Hubbing Provider Interworking Group (HPIG), ensure the company's roaming hub services are always compliant with the latest GSMA rules and procedures.

The comprehensive [ suite of roaming services ] available from Syniverse includes [ date clearing ], [ financial clearing ], [ signaling ], [ agreement management ], [ RAEX ], operational support services and the company's award-winning [ Syniverse DataNet ] NRTRDE solution.
