ST. PAUL, Minn.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN) today announced the successful and simultaneous implementations of the Lawson M3 Enterprise Management System at Stangeland Kran and Stangeland Maskin, two main business units of the Stangeland Group. The project encompasses the Lawson M3 solution for Equipment Service Management & Rental covering service, rental, finance and supply chain management. The group also implemented Lawson Smart Office. The Lawson M3 system runs on an IBM System i platform.

Stangeland Maskin, a Lawson customer since 1996, is the largest and most advanced machine contractor in Norway, with its primary business in ground work, including excavation and earth moving. Stangeland Kran, another division of the Stangeland Group, is a leading company in the management of heavy duty cranes and transportation. It operates and maintains cranes along the entire coast of Norway. The Stangeland Group employs approximately 630 people.

In 2008, Stangeland Maskin launched a project to upgrade its Lawson system. At the same time, Stangeland Kran planned to implement a non-Lawson system. But after an in-depth analysis of the functionality of both systems, Stangeland Kran opted to switch to the Lawson M3 system, citing superior functionality specifically for Equipment Service Management & Rental. Stangeland Maskin began its implementation in June 2008, while Stangeland Kran began in November.

Because the Stangeland Group wanted both projects go-live simultaneously, the Stangeland Kran division had less than 6 weeks to configure, migrate, test and train people on the Lawson system. To help meet this tight timeline, the Lawson Solution Center in the Philippines was engaged for support, and met this deadline. A dedicated team of Stangeland and Lawson employees successfully brought the Lawson M3 system live in both divisions simultaneously.

"We needed an industry-specific solution implemented fast and easily, running on a modern platform, to help us properly manage and optimize our assets," said Annelise Osaland, CFO of Stangeland Maskin. "Clearly software projects can be run well. Our long-term investment in the Lawson system has proven its success over the past ten years, and this new upgrade will help us utilize our equipment even better and help keep equipment downtime to a minimum. The Lawson upgrade project coincided with the move of 100 people, 600 trucks, cranes and other equipment to our new office and four adjacent repair shops – along with the change of our network operator, mail system, IT infrastructure and our equipment."

"We are committed to providing our customers with a superior experience. With this reinvestment in the Lawson M3 system and loyalty to Lawson after a decade, Stangeland demonstrates that our industry focus helps us address our customers' needs and challenges," said Andreas Hellstrom, industry strategy director for Lawson. "Regardless of the size of a customer's business, our industry expertise and functional fit helps bring greater value and faster return on their investment."
