Mon, January 26, 2009 Actuate, BIRT and ABS Nautical Systems Set Sail With OEM Agreement for Fleet Management Software
SAN MATEO, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ:ACTU), the leader in delivering Rich Internet Applications Without Limits™, today announced that ABS Nautical Systems(NS) has embedded Actuate and BIRT, the leading open source information application development environment and a top level Eclipse project founded and co-led by Actuate, into ABS Nautical Systems' fleet management software, NS 5. One of the leading systems of its kind, NS 5 offers an integrated suite of software modules that collectively handle the principal elements of operational management - from regulatory requirements, to payroll, and to planned maintenance programs. Actuate and BIRT integration with NS 5 takes fleet management beyond daily operational duties by consolidating the data from across the individual software modules to better monitor key performance indicators, such as idling time, consumption and maintenance diagnostics to achieve maximum efficiency.
The new on-demand reporting module within ABS Nautical Systems' full suite of products, NS 5 Insight, relies on a growing open source ecosystem of BIRT developers to take advantage of the productivity of the software and deliver interactive information to fleet managers. BIRT has become an established open source standard with over 5 million downloads. ABS Nautical Systems leveraged Actuate and BIRT to provide the most highly developed rich Internet business intelligence functionality while increasing the power of fleet management software allowing NS customers to run a more efficient fleet.
