SAN ANTONIO--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Rackspace® Hosting, (NYSE: RAX), a leader and specialist in hosting, announced today the company has been ranked 43rd on the FORTUNE 12th annual "100 Best Companies to Work For" list. This is the second consecutive year that Rackspace has appeared on the list. The full list and related stories appear in the February 2 issue of FORTUNE, available on newsstands on Monday, January 26, and now at FORTUNE.com/bestcompanies.

"We are honored to be recognized as one on the Best Places to Work For by FORTUNE magazine. Each day, Rackers come to work and volunteer their best to each other and our customers. We are proud of the culture we are building and this culture powers Fanatical Support. Many thanks to all of the Rackers who work so hard every day to build our company," said Lanham Napier, president and CEO, Rackspace.

A driving factor for the companies on this year's list is that they excel at creating jobs. According to the FORTUNE List, Rackspace is ranked 2nd for job growth. This growth has fueled Rackspace's commitment to employees. Rackspace continues to advocate for its workforce, who proudly call themselves Rackers, through diligent hiring and training processes to achieve the appropriate employee caliber and fit. Rackspace invests in the professional and personal development of Rackers through its internal training department, Rackspace University.

FORTUNE.com blog, Managing Editor Andy Serwer writes, "No matter what happens with the economy, the demand for talent will remain. Great companies know that super-motivated, happy, world-class employees are an incredible competitive advantage."

Rackspace has created a unique culture built around Fanatical Support® that is a vital part of the company's success. The company has a long history of being ranked as a ‘great place to work' by numerous sources. This honor can be traced back to the unique people who are hired to deliver Fanatical Support. Rackspace was built around a culture that fosters friendly, service-oriented people who care about customer service.

Notable perks for working at Rackspace include open communication with executives all the way up to the CEO and Chairman. In addition, Rackers are recognized for hard work through a variety of out-of-the-box awards including the coveted Straightjacket Award and keys to the Rackspace BMW, also known as the "Rackermobile." Rackspace also provides an outlet for its employees to contribute though the Rack Gives Back philanthropic committee which was established to get employees involved in the community. Every quarter a large scale project and half a dozen small scale projects are completed on a completely voluntary basis.

To pick the "100 Best Companies to Work For," FORTUNE works with Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz of the Great Place to Work® Institute — a global research and consulting firm with offices in 30 countries — to conduct one of the most extensive employee surveys in corporate America. More than 81,000 employees from 353 companies responded to the 57-question survey created by the Institute. Two-thirds of a company's score is based on the survey, which is sent to a minimum of 400 randomly selected employees. The remaining third is based on a company's responses to the Culture Audit questionnaire, which asks detailed questions about demographics, pay and benefits, and open-ended questions on philosophy, communication and more.

Any company that is at least seven years old with more the 1,000 U.S. employees is eligible to be included on the list. The deadline for applying for next year's list is March 31, 2009. For an online nomination form, go to [ www.greatplacetowork-100best.com ].
