SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - April 6, 2009) - Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: [ RVBD ]), the IT infrastructure performance company for networks, applications and storage, today announced plans to expand the Riverbed User Group (RVUG) Program after successfully completing the program's initial year. The global program is built upon the original [ online customer community forum ], which has more than 50% of Riverbed® customers as registered members. The RVUG program will now expand its support for user-driven meetings in over 20 regions worldwide.

The Riverbed User Groups provide customers with a forum to discuss best practices and share expertise, be among the first to learn about Riverbed product updates and features, and provide direct feedback to Riverbed product management. To date, Riverbed users have participated in meetings in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, Los Angeles, London, Toronto, Ottawa, Raleigh, Atlanta, New York, New Jersey and Orlando.

"The Riverbed User Group Program gives end users an opportunity to learn about new Riverbed features directly from the Riverbed team. These forums, hosted by Riverbed, also give users an opportunity to discuss and share their experiences with Riverbed as well as a direct line of communication to the development team," said Riverbed customer Skip Taylor, Senior Network Administrator at Jordan, Jones & Goulding.

The User Groups are made up of independent communities of Riverbed users who get together to exchange ideas and information. A wide range of technical topics are discussed at each event relating to organizational cost-cutting initiatives, such as IT consolidation and virtualization. At each event Riverbed supports a hands-on experience with new and upcoming features on Steelhead® appliances, Steelhead Mobile and the Riverbed Services Platform. In addition, this year's events will provide insight into the Riverbed Cascade appliances, which provide visibility into end-to-end application delivery dependencies and network behavior analysis.

"The Riverbed User Group sessions have proven extremely valuable to us here at the Canadian Cancer Society - Ontario Division by giving us an opportunity to not only receive updates on new products and features but to participate in the question and answer sessions with other users on how these new products and features may be implemented or how they will impact performance," said Riverbed customer Gerry Holmes, Director, Information Technology at Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division. "This type of discussion doesn't occur in a one-on-one vendor visit or presentation in your office. Questions quite often raised by other users are not ones you would have thought of on your own or they may inspire you to ask a further question. The RVUG has also provided a useful networking opportunity with other users in our community with whom we can exchange ideas and experiences outside of the User Group meetings."

Riverbed customers interested in participating or championing regional forums can register online at [ http://www.riverbed.com/company/community/rvug// ]
