SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - March 6, 2009) - Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: [ RVBD ]), the IT infrastructure performance company for networks, applications and storage, today announced its participation in the annual FOSE 2009 conference, taking place March 10 - 12 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. At the conference, Riverbed® will showcase its award-winning WAN optimization solutions that liberate government organizations from common IT constraints by dramatically improving application performance, enabling consolidation without disruption, and providing end-to-end network and application visibility. Riverbed IT infrastructure performance solutions drive mission effectiveness and enable government agencies and departments to meet mandates for telework, green computing, continuity of operations (COOP) and cost-cutting.

Riverbed works with many government organizations, ranging from one of the world's largest navies that achieved "near-terrestrial" performance of its key Web applications on all of its ships, to the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) that was able to consolidate its data centers from 17 to two without degrading application performance. Dozens of government organizations have deployed Riverbed Steelhead® products, ranging from small deployments to multi-site deployments with hundreds of appliances. These organizations have chosen Riverbed products to, among other things, enable consolidation of global IT assets, speed data transfer for mobile field operations units, decrease backup and data replication times by up to 90 percent, and reduce bandwidth costs and utilization.

At the conference, attendees will learn how Riverbed products help government agencies:

-- Consolidate their IT infrastructure -- Cut bandwidth, hardware and operational costs -- Reduce their environmental footprint -- Accelerate applications over the WAN and on satellite links -- Accelerate backup and recovery -- Deliver more visibility and control
