RCN Contest Will Send Lucky Winner to Join Hall of Famer Jim Rice at Red Sox Spring Training

BOSTON--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--RCN Corporation (NASDAQ: RCNI), a leading provider of video, data, and voice services to residential, business and commercial/carrier customers, announced today that it is inviting the public to enter a contest to join newly elected Baseball Hall of Famer and Red Sox Legend Jim Rice on a trip to Red Sox spring training. RCN will send one winner and a guest to Fort Myers, Florida, to attend a spring training game and share lunch with Rice. He has been working with RCN for the past year to promote the company and participate in customer appreciation events, which he will continue to do in 2009.

The lucky winner and one guest will be flown to Florida and receive two nights hotel accommodations, tickets to a Red Sox spring training game and lunch with Jim Rice, all courtesy of RCN. Jim Rice was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame class of 2009 on January 12, 2009. Rice spent his entire 16-year career – 1974 through 1989 – with the Boston Red Sox as one of the most feared hitters in baseball. Rice proved he was one of the best American League sluggers by receiving eight All-Star Selections and placing in the top five MVP balloting six times. He has remained closely involved with the Red Sox organization – holding several coaching and commentator positions for New England Sports Network since ending his playing career in 1989. As a Hall of Famer, Rice will be remembered and revered among the great Red Sox and baseball players of all time.
