SUNNYVALE, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BCSI), the leader in WAN optimization and Secure Web Gateway, today announced that China Bank of Communications selected Blue Coat® ProxySG® appliances to provide visibility, acceleration and security at its Internet access gateway. The ProxySG appliances solved an ongoing problem the bank had faced with a saturated Internet gateway that would often be too overloaded for business-critical communications and applications.

Gao Jun from China Bank of Communications said: "Blue Coat has a complete solution which has brought control and performance to our Internet gateway, allowing our core business system to run more smoothly and rapidly."

Blue Coat ProxySG appliances provide visibility, acceleration and security for the centralized Internet gateway that provides access for China Bank of Communications' 60,000 employees. The appliances can stop malicious content and enforce the bank's Internet usage standards. At the same time, acceptable content and applications are accelerated due to the local caching and performance technologies the appliances provide. Because of the controls and caching, the ProxySG appliances reduce the amount of bandwidth consumed, creating operational savings and ensuring that business-critical applications and communications have proper Internet access.

"Blue Coat ProxySG appliances provide a comprehensive Secure Web Gateway solution for managing enterprise Internet gateways by combining visibility, acceleration and security in a single appliance," said Matt Young, vice president, Asia Pacific region, Blue Coat Systems. "Our ProxySG appliances provide the security and performance critical to protect and facilitate business communications and applications for China Bank of Communications."

China Bank of Communications was established in 1908, and, after restructuring in 1987, became China's first nationwide state-owned joint-stock commercial bank and the first Chinese entity to deliver comprehensive financial services, including banking, insurance and securities. In 2005 and 2007, the company was listed on the Hong Kong and Shanghai stock markets, respectively. China Bank of Communications now has 2,612 branches in over 148 Chinese cities and has established agent relationships with 1,117 banks in 125 countries and regions.
