Symmetricom Hosts Video Quality Experts Group (VQEG) Meeting

VQEG is an international group of experts from various backgrounds and affiliations, including companies, research centers, universities and standards organizations, working in the field of video quality assessment. The group is co-chaired by Arthur Webster, National Telecommunications & Information Administration (NTIA/ITS) and Filippo Speranza, Communications Research Centre (CRC) Canada.

One of the world's top experts in digital media quality and principal technologist for Symmetricom's [ QoE ] Solutions, Dr. Stefan Winkler has been an active member of VQEG since the group was founded in 1997. Dr. Winkler has published more than 40 papers on perceptual quality measurement and is the author of the book, "Digital Video Quality."
Mr. Webster has held the co-chair position of VQEG since its founding. He has worked for NTIA/ITS, part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, for 18 years. He also works on the development and standardization of priority, reliability and security aspects of emergency telecommunications services over next generation networks.
VQEG combines the expertise and resources found in several ITU Study Groups to work towards a common goal. This meeting will focus on various technical discussions on several ongoing projects including tests of HDTV as well as hybrid video quality metrics that the group is conducting. Other topics include multimedia, RRNR-TV and 3D-TV.
