Tue, January 13, 2009 Blue Coat Ranked Number One in Quarterly Report on Market Share in Content Security Gateway Appliances
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:BCSI), the leader in WAN optimization and Secure Web Gateway, today announced that it was ranked as the worldwide market share leader of the Content Security Gateway Appliance market based on revenue according to the Q3 2008 report from communications market research firm Infonetics Research. The report shows that Blue Coat has led the market since calendar year 2006.
According to the report, the worldwide market for content security gateway appliances in the third calendar quarter grew more than six percent over the previous quarter despite the challenging business and economic environment. Noting that, "drivers for deploying security in large part are divorced from macro-economic drivers," the report concludes that enterprises continue to invest in Web security gateway solutions because of "an explosive growth in the number, variety and volume of threats," the need to meet regulatory and compliance requirements, service provider spending on security and "security investment as a cost-saving measure."
