Macrovision Announces New Chumoku-Bangumi Feature on the G-Guide
TOKYO--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Macrovision Solutions Corporation (NASDAQ:MVSN) today announced the addition of "Chumoku-Bangumi" on the G-Guide, a Japanese interactive program guide (IPG). The new feature will debut on Panasonic's HD television series released on January 13, 2009.
Currently the G-Guide offers program information for up to eight days. With the new Chumoku-Bangumi feature, the G-Guide will provide information on a selection of recommended TV programs for up to one month from the date of the programs. Moreover, the new feature incorporates program pictures in addition to text information, providing users with more enjoyable, detailed program information.
The key features of Chumoku-Bangumi include:
- Availability of program information from a selection of recommended TV programs for up to one month instead of eight days
- Approximately 100 titles of available of program information on Chumoku-Bangumi
- Provides TV program visual images unlike conventional program information solely available in text
- Recommended TV programs at Chumoku-Bangumi can be set to record for up to one month in advance compared to the normal eight-day range
*G-Guide will continue to show 8 days of listings, but expanded listings for up to one month are accessible by clicking Chumoku-Bangumi.
The Chumoku-Bangumi feature is incorporated in Panasonic's new series digital HD televisions (VIERA) to provide users with G-Guide's easy-to-view program information and the ability to record simple programs. The new feature will further enhance the home entertainment lifestyle as G-Guide recommended TV program information viewing and recording capability enables users to check special programs, without interfering with consumers' busy life styles or overseas holidays.
