Parkland Health & Hospital System Selects Lawson Software
ST. PAUL, Minn.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN) today announced that Parkland Health & Hospital System licensed the Lawson S3 Enterprise Financial Management, Supply Chain Management and Enterprise Performance Management Suites, including Lawson Business Intelligence and Lawson Strategic Sourcing. The health care provider will use the Lawson system to help eliminate manual administrative processes and simplify reporting and purchasing by improving data access. The contract was signed during Lawson's second quarter of fiscal 2009, which ended Nov. 30, 2008. Lawson Professional Services will provide implementation support for the project.
Parkland Health & Hospital System is a 685-bed health system with more than 8,000 employees located in Dallas, Texas. The health system operates Parkland Memorial Hospital, 11 community health centers and an employee physician office. Parkland Memorial Hospital houses a Level I trauma center and the nation's second-largest regional burn center.
"Our mission is delivering excellent community care. We sought a business system that would help us simplify administrative processes so employees can spend more time caring for patients," said Jack Kowitt, chief information officer for Parkland Health & Hospital System. "The Lawson system will help us streamline administration and improve decision-making with organization-wide access to information and reports."
Lawson Business Intelligence, part of the Lawson S3 Enterprise Performance Management Suite, will help the health system promote more effective decision-making by helping to deliver the right information to the right people in time to take action. For example, the system could send an automated alert to a supply manager's email or mobile device about a potential supply shortage, giving them the information they need to replenish or reorder that item. The Lawson system also will help hospital staff to drill-down from information presented on a dashboard for more in-depth analysis and better decision-making.
Lawson Strategic Sourcing, part of the Lawson Supply Chain Management Suite, will help the health system automate the sourcing of goods and services electronically through online creation and posting of bids. The application supports online collaboration with suppliers, helping to save time throughout the full sourcing lifecycle through bidding and award. This can help Parkland Health & Hospital System reduce costs and improve the management of acquiring goods and services.
"Healthcare organizations need affordable, intuitive business systems that streamline administration so they can focus on caring for patients and expanding their services," said Nam Vo, vice president of global healthcare strategy for Lawson. "Our proven applications help healthcare providers simplify and automate business processes to help them control costs and improve the care they provide to the communities they serve."
