International Datacasting Corporation: International Datacasting Corporation Wins Over $770,000 in New Orders With Release of E
OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 8, 2009) - International Datacasting Corporation (TSX:IDC), a global leader in the secure delivery of broadband content by satellite, announced today that the Company has been awarded new contracts totalling over $770,000 CDN for the provision and support of a new high performance version of the Cyphercast IP Conditional Access System which they manufacture under license to Irdeto Access.
The launch of the new generation Cyphercast IP Conditional Access system increases the system's ability to encrypt and decrypt multicast Internet Protocol (IP) multimedia data streams at speeds up to 80mb/s - the maximum that can be transmitted in a single 36MHz satellite transponder and more than double the speed possible with the previous generation product. This higher performance represents an attractive solution to customers looking to increase revenues and/or reduce operating costs by delivering more data in a more cost effective manner.
Under the terms of the license agreement with Irdeto, which was announced in 2008, IDC has taken over responsibility for the ongoing development of the Cyphercast IP Conditional Access System as well as the ongoing support for certain Irdeto customers. The new release of the product line, which includes both scramblers and bulk descramblers, combined with the initial contract awards, mark the successful transfer of the technology from Irdeto Access and the first major step forward of the product line by IDC.
The Cyphercast IP Conditional Access System is used to ensure the secure broadcast of multicast IP data over satellite for many of IDC's security conscious customers, both military and commercial, for such applications as financial, IPTV and digital cinema distribution applications.
"We are really excited to see this product move forward and to see the continued adoption of the Cyphercast IP Conditional Access System technology," said Ron Clifton, IDC President and CEO. "The Cyphercast IP descrambler is integrated as a standard option in our SuperFlex DVB/IP satellite receivers and is used to implement high speed data, audio and video distribution networks. We will continue to expand this product line and we look forward to providing the expanded performance that new higher speed applications of the future will demand."
