A 15-year-old boy with an unusual talent for engineering has built his own hybrid go-kart. Aaron Mitchell from Dryland Road, Borough Green, is a Year 10 pupil at the School of Science and Technology in Maidstone.
Aaron Mitchell, a 13-year-old from Borough Green, Kent, has built a hybrid-powered go-kart that runs on both petrol and electricity. His project, which began as a school assignment, evolved into a fully functional vehicle after he received a petrol engine as a gift. Aaron, who has a keen interest in mechanics, taught himself how to construct the go-kart using online resources and with some help from his father, who is a mechanic. The go-kart features a 3.5 horsepower engine and can reach speeds up to 25mph. His innovative approach not only showcases his mechanical skills but also his commitment to environmental sustainability by incorporating an electric component. Aaron's project has been recognized by his school, and he has plans to further refine his creation, potentially adding more advanced features.
