  • The Shadow Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology has visited The University of Manchester's Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC) which specialises in the rapid development and scale-up of graphene and other 2D materials applications.

Shadow Minister for Science, Research and Innovation, Chi Onwurah, visited Newcastle University to explore its advanced engineering and biotechnology facilities. During her visit, she toured the National Green Infrastructure Facility, which focuses on sustainable infrastructure, and the National Innovation Centre for Data, emphasizing the university's commitment to data-driven innovation. Onwurah also engaged with the Newcastle Helix, a hub for business, research, and education, and discussed the university's role in fostering regional economic growth through its research capabilities. The visit highlighted the university's efforts in integrating cutting-edge technology with practical applications in engineering and life sciences, showcasing projects like the development of new materials and health technologies.
