Riverbed Technology: Riverbed: The Q109 Global Market Share Leader in WAN Optimization
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - July 13, 2009) - Riverbed Technology (
"Organizations of all sizes are working to build efficiency into their existing IT infrastructure while also embarking on cost-cutting initiatives such as bandwidth reduction, data center virtualization and branch IT consolidation," said Eric Wolford, senior vice president, marketing and business development at Riverbed. "As enterprises embark on these projects and move their data further from their employees, however, they are often faced with poor application performance over the WAN and slow file transfers. Major initiatives are stalled and money wasted. Success requires an easy-to-install and manage WAN optimization solution that delivers up to 100X data and application acceleration to knowledge workers while standing up to the demands of the data center. Riverbed delivers on all fronts."
In a separate report published by Gartner in June 2009, Riverbed was positioned in the leaders quadrant in the "Magic Quadrant for WAN Optimization Controller (WOC), 2009" published in June 2009 and authored by Andy Rolfe, Joe Skorupa and Severine Real. According to Gartner's "Market Share: Application Acceleration Equipment, Worldwide 1Q09" report, WOCs are designed for networks, are typically deployed symmetrically (in data centers and remote locations) and improve the performance of applications that are accessed across a WAN. Advanced Platform WOCs [are] WOCs that address multiple WAN problems including limited bandwidth and excessive latency. AP WOCs incorporate TCP optimizations, delta-based byte caching and compression, and protocol-specific optimizations for HTTP(S), MAPI and CIFS. AP WOCs may also include application-specific optimizations such as SharePoint over HTTP, or AutoCAD using CIFS to further boost performance.
Riverbed Technology Leadership: Speed, Scalability and Simplicity
Riverbed WAN optimization solutions enable organizations of all sizes to overcome a wide range of IT infrastructure performance bottlenecks, including poor application performance, slow database backups and insufficient bandwidth at remote sites. By speeding the performance of applications between data centers, remote offices and mobile workers by up to 100 times, the Riverbed award-winning Steelhead products enable companies to consolidate IT, improve backup and replication processes to ensure data integrity, and improve staff productivity and collaboration.
"We believe our leadership in the WAN optimization market is a reflection of our close relationship with our customers and the integral role that relationship plays in our product development and bringing relevant solutions to market." continued Wolford. "Based on our experience with over 6,000 customers, it's clear that what enterprises are looking for in a WAN optimization solution is speed, scale and simplicity."
