Socket Mobile, Inc.: Socket Mobile Establishes STAR Program
NEWARK, CA--(Marketwire - June 23, 2009) - Socket Mobile, Inc. (
STAR Program partners are selected to participate based on their product offerings that are compatible for use with Socket hardware, but also provide a sufficient value-add for Socket users. Each accessory product undergoes a rigorous testing process before becoming certified by Socket for recommendation under the [ STAR Program ]. Initial program participants include SpringCard, Seal Shield, Taylor Made Cases, Kenetics Group Ltd. and Uniform Industrial Corporation (UIC), all of whom provide a range of product options for the SoMo 650 handheld computer including contact and contactless smart card, mag stripe and RFID readers, UHF RFID readers, cases and keyboards.
"We believe the STAR Program is a great benefit for Socket customers who are looking to expand the capabilities of their hardware deployments with contact and contactless smart cards," said Guy Aeschelmann, director of sales at SpringCard. "In circumstances where a smartcard reader is a required component of a handheld mobile solution, it's good to know that the STAR Program makes it easy to find a vendor that supplies the additional component and that it's tested and verified to work with their SoMo 650."
"Seal Shield is excited to be included as a STAR Program member," said Greg Hengber, vice president of operations at Seal Shield. "By offering our antimicrobial, washable keyboards as a certified accessory, we provide Socket customers the ability to complete their medical mobility solution set without sacrificing its antimicrobial protection."
"The addition of the STAR Program to the Socket product family is a big step forward for the company, our resellers and our customers in terms of building on the diverse set of applications for which the SoMo can be utilized," said Ron Gibbs, Sr. product manager and STAR Program manager. "Socket knows that mobile hardware deployments are not a one size fits all situation. We want our resellers and customers to be able to configure their hardware into an overall solution that works for them and the easier we can make this process, the better the outcome for all involved."
