LITTLETON, MA--(Marketwire - June 17, 2009) - [ Akorri ], Inc., the leader in [ virtual infrastructure performance and capacity management ] for the [ virtualized data center ], announced today that [ Consolidated Communications ] (NASDAQ: [ CNSL ]), the nation's 13th largest independent local telephone company and provider of advanced communications services in Illinois, Texas and Pennsylvania, has selected the company's [ BalancePoint ] software to optimize IT infrastructure performance while migrating from a physical to a virtual computing environment. BalancePoint has given Consolidated Communications insight into data center performance from applications to storage, allowing the company to proactively alleviate bottlenecks and monitor, maintain and plan for the capacity and growth of its storage area networking environment.

"We are in the process of deploying two new virtual farms which are growing daily, and BalancePoint has been extremely useful in providing a performance baseline and comparison as we move to virtualization," said Matt Denman, Manager, Database/Unix Administration at Consolidated Communications.

"With BalancePoint, we have been able to dramatically reduce time and resources spent on troubleshooting and better plan and organize our IT budget through gaining full visibility into all components attached to our storage area network, easily pinpointing trouble areas, successfully balancing our loads and monitoring and trending capacity and growth," continued Denman.

Initially, Consolidated Communications was experiencing a latency problem with one of their financial applications, and could not determine where the problem was occurring, even with pooling all of their resources. Their storage partner/supplier Dell pointed the company to Akorri, and once installed BalancePoint was able to determine that the problem was at the application layer.

"We are thrilled to be part of Consolidated Communications' transition from a physical to virtual environment and to provide the holistic view they needed to do both baselining and optimization of performance," said Rich Corley, Founder and CTO of Akorri. "BalancePoint's unique ability to view and understand both physical and virtual infrastructure as well as server, storage and application worlds, combined with advanced visualization and analytics, helps companies gain the most from their newly virtualized environments."
