ANNAPOLIS, MD--(Marketwire - June 19, 2009) - TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: [ TSYS ]), a leading provider of wireless communications technology, today announced that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) named TCS' VoIP Verify™ 9-1-1 Service as recipient of a 2008 Communications Solutions Product of the Year Award. VoIP Verify 9-1-1 provides a comprehensive and responsive public safety solution to ensure that customers using digital Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephones are E9-1-1 compatible.

TCS' VoIP Verify 9-1-1 enables digital Voice Service Providers (VSPs) to determine the availability and extent of E9-1-1 service coverage to their subscriber base. The subscriber uses a VoIP telephone to dial a number supplied by the VSP -- usually a 9-1-1 variant such as 9-3-3. After dialing the designated number, the subscriber receives a recorded message describing the extent of 9-1-1 service for the VoIP subscriber's provisioned address.
