U.S. Patent for Method and System for Saving and Retrieving Spatial Related Information Issued to TeleCommunication Systems, In
ANNAPOLIS, MD--(Marketwire - June 16, 2010) - TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (
With the expansion of smart GPS phones, graphical touch or non-touch devices, and location-based services (LBS), the challenge of "visualizing" location data is increasing. This patented TCS invention provides a simple and user-friendly manner for visualizing extensive location-based data associated with time, such as number of stops, check-ins, duration of travel between stops or check-ins, and the associated travel time. Time and position information is displayed graphically on customizable maps, calendars, Gantt charts, and other visual aids. This TCS invention ensures that position information associated with single or multiple communication devices can be delivered to users as well as saved, analyzed, and visualized in a variety of simple and immediately useable ways.
"The proliferation of wireless LBS-enabled devices has shown that GPS and location data are common components in almost everything we do in the mobile world," said Drew Morin, chief technology officer of TCS. "The ability to understand how long it takes to get from point to point in real time just by using your mobile device is a significant change in the mobile communication world. This invention has the potential to fundamentally change the way people utilize their mobile devices together with their calendars as it relates to consuming and understanding location-based data."
TCS now holds 115 patents worldwide with over 300 applications pending. To learn more about TCS patents, please visit: [ http://www.telecomsys.com/about/ip-licensing/patents.aspx ].
