TeleCommunication Systems Launches SwiftLink Inclined Tracking Terminal to Extend Usefulness of Satellites in Compromised Orbit
TAMPA, FL--(Marketwire - June 15, 2010) - TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (
This new solution is the latest edition to the TCS SwiftLink family of Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) antennas that integrate best-in-class industry standard components into deployable satellite communications systems. The SwiftLink Inclined Tracking Terminal is highly configurable, with an interchangeable feed boom assembly for multi-band changes and a choice of several baseband options. The solution utilizes the latest software and hardware upgrades to existing fielded SwiftLink SIPR/NIPR Access Point (SNAP) VSAT terminals, resulting in the smallest modular and deployable inclined tracking system available today. Recently field tested in Bahrain, the SwiftLink Inclined Tracking Terminal successfully demonstrated its ability to pass voice, video and data on an inclined orbit satellite.
"The SwiftLink Inclined Tracking Terminal expands bandwidth availability in areas where supply is limited, and hence broadband use is cost prohibitive," said Michael Bristol, senior vice president and general manager of TCS' Government Solutions Group. "Now customers can fulfill bandwidth needs via communications satellites that were previously inaccessible from the field without compromising security. This latest innovation combines a complex mounting and steering configuration with sophisticated tracking controls to deliver a package exemplifying the trademark usability, mobility and durability that SwiftLink SNAP VSAT clients are accustomed to using."
The SwiftLink Inclined Tracking Terminal is capable of communication across SIPR and NIPR networks from a pack-in-the-box pedestal design that is already widely deployed in the field. An end-to-end solution that includes hardware, managed bandwidth services and integrated logistics (ILS) support, it is completely interoperable with existing SNAP systems through a seamless upgrade path. VSAT antennae already in the field can be retrofitted for inclined tracking, and the feature is now available as an option on all new VSAT orders.
TCS has a two-decade proven track record as a trusted provider of communication technology solutions addressing the government's toughest technical challenges, under conditions that demand the highest level of reliability, availability and security. To ensure mission continuity, TCS offers complete end-to-end managed services for converged (IP-based) voice, video and data satcom for seamless, highly secure connectivity between fixed sites and remote operations, including the SwiftLink family of deployable communications solutions.
