BOSTON--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Netezza Corporation (NYSE: NZ), the global leader in [ data warehouse, analytic and monitoring appliances ], today announced the second wave of the Netezza® TwinFina" data warehouse appliances at their Enzee Universe annual user conference. Available in the third quarter of this year, the TwinFin appliance will include the i-Classa" advanced analytics capabilities together with a new release of the Netezza Performance Software (NPS®). NPS Release 6.0 doubles both performance and capacity, and includes significantly enhanced workload management features with no increase in hardware footprint or power and cooling requirements.

"This second wave of the TwinFin appliance significantly extends product capability and performance"

The i-Class technology provides extensions for the development and execution of advanced analytics on the TwinFin appliance, including support for Java, C/C++, Fortran, Python, MapReduce, Hadoop, SAS and R. The i-Class technology eliminates the need to move data into specialized systems for advanced analytics, dramatically accelerating application performance and simplifying their deployment.

aThis second wave of the TwinFin appliance significantly extends product capability and performance,a said Jim Baum, president and CEO, Netezza. aNot only does this software release double performance and data capacity, massively improve our workload management capability, but by including i-Class technology, we will raise the bar in terms of the analysis that is possible. We believe the TwinFin appliance achieves faster, cheaper and deeper analytics than any other product in the market and will serve as a key component of the Intelligent Economy.a

Beyond raw performance and advanced analytics, this second wave of the Netezza TwinFin appliance significantly enhances workload management capabilities, allowing customers to run even more complex and diverse workloads across very large user populations. Administrators can use these capabilities to effectively allocate system resources among groups of users and isolate the impact of diverse workloads executing simultaneously on the appliance.

aThis latest release of the Netezza appliance meets a growing need to extend once limited access to business intelligence analytics and data so that thousands of front-line employees, as well as partners and customers, can access shared data online,a said Richard Winter, president of Winter Corp., an independent consulting firm specializing in data warehousing.

The NPS Release 6.0 and i-Class module will be made available via a software-only upgrade on the Netezza TwinFin and Skimmera" appliances.
