LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - October 13, 2009) - MATECH Corp. (OTCBB: [ MTCH ]) ([ www.matechcorp.com ]) is pleased to announce that it is in the process of forming a Brazilian subsidiary to market its Electrochemical Fatigue Sensor (EFS) System in Brazil and throughout South America.

There is substantial interest in the application of MATECH's EFS System by infrastructure asset owners as well as clients in the petrochemical industry in Brazil. In addition, MATECH has discussed a potential partnership with several universities in Brazil in order to fulfill additional R&D desired by large Brazilian companies.

Dr. Monty Moshier, MATECH's Chief Technologist, was recently in Brazil and met with various potential clients in the region. Dr. Moshier discussed the EFS System and its capabilities to determine whether existing cracks on bridges are actively growing, and to detect growing cracks indiscernible by conventional methods. He also discussed the importance of using this technology to verify retrofits and repairs for bridge owners. He presented a demonstration of the EFS and data to show its capabilities.

MATECH has a proven track record of saving bridge owners money through improving bridge management and public safety with its cutting-edge technology, the EFS System. Through eliminating subjectivity of inspections for cracking in bridge members (the FHWA has stated that 90% of these cracks are missed with the usual visual inspections), MATECH is helping to eliminate wasted funds by prioritizing repairs and verifying their effectiveness immediately.

Robert M. Bernstein, MATECH's CEO, stated: "This visit and demonstration represents a significant milestone for MATECH and our efforts to bring our EFS System to interested companies and infrastructure asset owners in Brazil. There is tremendous economic activity in the region, and the asset owners and companies are eager to save money through the use of our EFS technology."
