SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - October 7, 2009) - Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: [ RVBD ]), the IT infrastructure performance company for networks, applications and storage, today announced that it will be participating at Computerworld Storage Networking World Fall, taking place October 12-15 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Arizona. Storage Networking World is the world's largest and foremost storage networking event where IT management and professionals learn, network, and maximize their company's storage capabilities. At the conference, Riverbed® customer Lathrop & Gage and Riverbed technical director Josh Tseng will each present on the vital role WAN optimization plays when executing IT consolidation and virtualization initiatives for a more efficient IT infrastructure.

Riverbed offers a complete WAN optimization solution that accelerates applications and data for remote offices, data centers and mobile workers across WANs, accelerating access to applications and data in some cases up to 100 times faster. Riverbed Steelhead appliances can remove large amounts of repetitive data from the WAN, dramatically reducing bandwidth requirements typically associated with protecting more data. The result, faster replication while utilizing less WAN bandwidth, means that disaster recovery capabilities are enhanced.

At Storage Networking World Fall 2009, attendees will learn about the impact Riverbed WAN optimization can have on disaster recovery initiatives by visiting booth #1000. Conference-goers can also attend the following sessions:

Who: Ben Weinberger, CIO, Lathrop & Gage When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009 4:00-4:45 p.m. Where: JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Arizona What: Simplifying and Improving Data Protection and Management

Lathrop & Gage, a large, full-service law firm with more than 600 employees dispersed across 11 offices throughout the United States, put aggressive measures in place to protect data and improve the efficiency of its backup and recovery processes. Mr. Weinberger will provide insight on how Lathrop & Gage completely redesigned its infrastructure and data protection plans by leveraging a combination of consolidation, centralization, virtualization and WAN optimization technologies.

Who: Josh Tseng, Technical Director in the Office of the CTO, Riverbed When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009 4:00-4:45 p.m. Where: JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Arizona What: WAN Optimization and Thin Client: Complementary or Competitive Application Delivery Methods?

A common aim of WAN optimization and thin client technologies is to consolidate servers and storage into the data center. But that is where their commonality ends. Numerous prognosticators in the past have proclaimed the inevitable supremacy of thin client network computing approaches, and the eventual demise of client-server computing as we know it.

How do emerging WAN optimization solutions impact these grand visions? What applications lend themselves well to thin client technology? What applications work best with WAN optimization approaches? Are there environments where these two approaches are complementary?

-- Understand the challenges behind traditional client-server computing approaches that are augmented through WAN optimization, and the alternative thin client application delivery method. -- Discover how WAN optimization can benefit thin client network traffic in specific environments. -- Determine how each application delivery method can benefit your enterprise infrastructure.
