Mr. Jacques Laurin, Chief Architect, OptiCon Systems
As the OptiCon Project Manager for CORNING Cable Systems from 1996 to 2004, Mr. Laurin led the internal development of Network Management software for the leading provider of fiber optic networks, installing network management systems in over 150 locations and in eight of the top ten cable providers.
Mr. Laurin gained critical knowledge of the requirements of communications network management, translating this expertise to build an OSS that facilitated network operations, including fault and entropy detection and provisioning systems. By incorporating GIS capabilities, the performance metrics were dramatically improved, establishing OptiCon as the de facto standard in the telecommunications industry.
Mr. Laurin was a founder in OptiCon Systems, Inc. in 2004, and served as Vice President of Technology until December 2007.
Mr. Laurin has most recently been a partner in a consulting firm providing Business Integration Solutions, and mastering RFID technology. He has successfully implemented Service Oriented Architecture and Business Process Management solutions in several large development projects in the Telecom, IT and manufacturing industries, and will bring his RFID expertise to the OptiCon product development team.
Jacques earned a software development degree from College Andre-Laurendeau in Montreal, Quebec.
Mr. Francis E. Vegliante, Senior Vice President of International Sales
Mr. Vegliante has held Executive Sales and Marketing positions spanning twenty-five years in the communications industry, and has specialized in International expansion for two decades. He brings an in-depth perspective of the technological impact of solving business challenges to the OptiCon management team.
Most recently, Mr. Vegliante was Vice President, Channel Marketing, for TriStar Communications' offering 100 mega bandwidth fiber optic solutions and VoIP broadband hybrid solutions capturing 5% market share in his first year. As a member of the start-up team at Burst.com, Mr. Vegliante had global P&L responsibility and established 85 channels of distribution in the streaming video markets in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.
As Executive VP at DocuPoint Corp., a start up software developer of CRM OSS Optical Based Systems, he generated $14 million in revenue. He had P&L responsibility at Paradyne Corp. and was National Sales Manager with Motorola Communications Corp.
Mr. Vegliante holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tampa, and studied International Trade at Yale University in New Haven, CT.
David A. McCarthy, Vice President, Corporate Development
As VP of Corporate Development, Dave McCarthy will be focusing on developing strategic partners for government funded projects in the PowerCon Energy Systems subsidiary. He has been instrumental in establishing critical meetings to procure stimulus funding under the Broadband Initiatives of the Department of Commerce and the Department of Energy.
McCarthy has a proven track record in business development in the e-commerce and finance industries. He has managed wholesale broker networks, and through his creative use of innovative technologies to replace legacy systems, increased revenue. He has been involved in the launch of multiple start-up divisions and companies, creating new market opportunities and brand development.
Most recently, Mr. McCarthy was Director of Business Development for TeamZoneSports, an e-commerce startup, marketing internet web development for athletic associations and educational facilities. McCarthy successfully established national marketing partners, secured investment capital, and increased the customer base by 30% in less than two years.
Prior to this, Mr. McCarthy was Director of Sales and Business Development at The Lending Group, growing the Southeast region's sales volume from $60 Million to $180 million annually.
Mr. McCarthy actively supports non-profit organizations, including local Little League and Pop Warner associations, and is on the Board of Directors of the New Tampa YMCA. Mr. McCarthy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Marquette University.
