SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - September 8, 2009) - Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: [ ARUN ]), a global leader in wireless LANs and secure mobility solutions, today announced that the German-Jordanian University (GJU) in Amman, Jordan has become the first Aruba Academy Partner in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Aruba Academy is a career development program that leverages collaboration between Aruba, academic institutions, and government organisations to help students develop the technology skills required for today's workplace. Participating institutions integrate Aruba's cutting-edge technology and training curriculum into educational courses that give students access to first-class professional development opportunities.

"Students who graduate from university with an in-depth understanding of mobility solutions and how they can be applied will have a competitive advantage in today's job market," said Professor Labib Khadra, President of the German-Jordanian University. "The Aruba Academy allows us to prepare students for the job market by offering cutting-edge information and communication technology-related educational programs. By the time they graduate our students will have both a breadth of knowledge across a wide range of subjects, and a depth of practical technical expertise second to none in the region."

Modeled on German universities of applied sciences, GJU was founded in 2005 by a Royal Decree of His Majesty King Abdullah in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding reached between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of the Federal Republic of Germany. Currently, GJU has approximately 1,500 local and international students at its temporary campus in Amman. GJU will soon move to a permanent campus in Madaba that will accommodate 5,000 students.

"The Aruba Academy was created to train university students on the technical underpinnings of mobile connectivity, a fast growing market in virtually every corner of the globe," said Ammar Enaya, regional director of Aruba Middle East and North Africa. "Familiarity with this incredibly powerful tool will make students more attractive to employers, and well positioned to move into management positions in the increasingly important mobility industry. We are delighted to welcome the German-Jordanian University as our first Aruba Academy in Jordan, and look forward to a long and close relationship with the university."
