Polycom, Inc.: Euphonix Chooses Polycom High Definition Voice Unmatched Sound Quality in Their Day-to-Day Communications
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA and PLEASANTON, CA--(Marketwire - September 1, 2009) - Euphonix, a leading manufacturer of large-format digital audio consoles, media controllers, and peripherals, has provided customers worldwide with trusted broadcast, post, live sound, and music production solutions for over 20 years. As a leader in their audio industry, Euphonix employees value high quality, high definition communications. So when it came to replacing their outdated telephone system, the Euphonix IT team turned to 3CX and Polycom, Inc. (
Recently, the company moved its headquarters to a new facility, and Euphonix's Director of IT, Andor Izsak, was tasked with updating the company's traditional phone system to a voice over IP solution. Izsak said he initially looked at traditional telephony vendors, but found their solutions to be cost prohibitive. He commented, "In my search, I realized that the one commonality among most of the vendor offerings was Polycom conference phones. Everyone was looking for best possible sound quality for their conferencing needs, and Polycom clearly fit the bill."
As a result, Izsak began exploring Polycom's entire product portfolio, which is when he was introduced to the [ Polycom SoundPoint® IP desktop phones ] and [ Polycom SoundStation® IP conference phones ] -- both of which are high-quality, full-featured voice over IP (VoIP) phones featuring [ Polycom HD Voice™. ] Because Polycom IP phones are open, standards-based offerings, Izsak had a choice of VoIP provider. He went with 3CX, developer of 3CX Phone System -- a software-based VoIP PBX for Windows. Izsak said the software-based solution was ideal because it offers open, flexible, reliable telephony at a much lower price than traditional offerings.
When asked about the combination of the 3CX solution and the Polycom IP phones, Izsak said, "It made sense to go with Polycom phones from a sound quality perspective and then partner with a third-party software vendor for an affordable and flexible IP PBX. The build quality and the sound quality of the Polycom products were both significantly better than any of the others I evaluated. The Polycom phones offer the best mix of usability, software integration, and the voice quality at a price level we could afford."
Euphonix has 85 Polycom SoundPoint IP desk phones and will have a total of six [ SoundStation IP 7000 conference phones ] deployed throughout its facilities. Since going with a pure-Polycom voice solution, Izsak noted that communications have improved dramatically. "It's like night and day compared to what we used to have," he said.
Izsak estimates savings of up to $100,000 in the first 12 months of use and anticipates the new phone system paying for itself in reduced operating costs within a year. Izsak said that they plan to implement the same Polycom/3CX VoIP solution in New York, London and Tokyo offices. He said that the savings are tremendous and furthermore, employees in those offices have heard about the new system and wonder when they'll get new phones.
"We're so pleased with the entire solution," concluded Izsak. "Polycom is clearly the market leader when it comes to top-notch, HD communications. Next up for Euphonix is telepresence. We're just now looking at the [ Polycom HDX 6000™ Series ] -- it's amazing quality at an affordable price. We can't wait to add visual communications to our network later this year!"
