• [ The Ministry of Finance of Mozambique (MdFDM) ] recently selected Oracle Enterprise Taxation Management to replace an inflexible, paper-based taxpayer registration process. The new software is expected to help increase efficiency and effectiveness of tax collection and improve taxpayer service to drive an increase in taxpayer registrations.
• MdFDM, which currently serves one million registered taxpayers and 50,000 businesses, initiated this project to modernize the government's tax collection process as part of its e-governance initiative, which will also include implementation of government resource planning and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
• There are 21 million citizens in Mozambique, many of whom consider it their duty to pay taxes, even though some have to walk up to 100 kilometers to the nearest tax office. With Oracle Enterprise Taxation Management, MdFDM will have a single view of taxpayer data and all transactional history, and will be able to provide its citizens and corporations with a self-service portal for online registration. MdFDM hopes to utilize its Web portal to increase the number of registered citizens from 1 million to 5 million. This will help MdFDM increase collections and revenue -- a key enabler to growing the economy of Mozambique and developing the nation in a self-sustaining manner.
• Oracle Enterprise Taxation Management will also enable the Ministry of Finance to more efficiently and effectively respond to changes in tax law and policy. The organization will work with Oracle Consulting and Escopil International on the implementation.
