SAN JOSE, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--[ Veraz Networks, Inc ]., (NASDAQ:VRAZ) the leading provider of [ Multimedia Generation Network ] application, control, and [ bandwidth optimization ] products, today announced SmartLink, an end-to-end compression solution for Veraz's I-Gate 4000 media gateways. Veraz's SmartLink allows voice calls to traverse multiple pairs of [ I-Gate 4000 ] media gateways without sacrificing voice quality, enabling service providers to maximize bandwidth optimization and reduce overall costs while maintaining high quality service.

Service providers are increasingly looking for bandwidth compression technology to lower their transmission costs and reduce operating expenses. However, other compression solutions force traffic through multiple compression/decompression cycles, which degrades voice quality below an acceptable level. Veraz's SmartLink technology compresses voice traffic just once and decompresses it only when it reaches its end point, thereby preserving the highest voice quality. The Veraz SmartLink solution is based on a self-aware network-wide algorithm that manages compression and decompression in real time.

Furthermore, service providers can implement Veraz's new end-to-end compression without modifying their existing switches or transmission equipment. It requires no changes in call routing, provisioning, lawful interception or call monitoring.

"In today's highly competitive environment, service providers need to aggressively reduce their costs," noted [ Eyal Hilzenrat ], Veraz VP, Bandwidth Optimization Products. "Veraz's SmartLink end-to-end compression solution enables a service provider to both lower transport costs while maximizing quality."

Veraz Networks is the leader in the development and deployment of advanced bandwidth optimization products for both TDM and IP networks. With the addition of the SmartLink solution, Veraz continues to provide the most flexible and highest performing bandwidth optimization capabilities for both TDM and IP bandwidth optimization to fixed and mobile network operators. SmartLink is currently in trial with several service providers.
