RCN Metro: RCN Metro Earns Top Honors in Atlantic-ACM Survey for Fourth Year in a Row

HERNDON, VA--(Marketwire - October 12, 2009) - [ RCN Metro Optical Networks ], a division of [ RCN Corporation ] (NASDAQ: [ RCNI ]) and a premier provider of fiber optic-based network solutions, announced today that they received three Best-in-Class Wholesale Regional/Metro Fiber Provider Excellence Awards from ATLANTIC-ACM, a Boston-based telecommunications research consultancy.

Dr. Judy Reed Smith, CEO of ATLANTIC-ACM, presented the awards at the COMPTEL Plus Fall 2009 Convention & Expo in Orlando, FL. Maura Mahoney, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for RCN Metro Optical Networks, was there to accept the awards on behalf of the division.

This was the fourth year that ATLANTIC-ACM conducted its Metro Report Card and the fourth year that RCN Metro's customers rated them highly. The Metro Report Card was divided between incumbent carriers and competitive carriers with customers rating their service provider's performance in several categories. RCN Metro won awards for Provisioning (tie), Billing (tie), and Data Value.

In addition to these awards, RCN Metro was the top-scoring carrier for: Local Private Line: DS1 & DS3 Quality and Value, Local Private Line: OCn and Wavelengths Quality and Value, SONET Ring Quality and Value.
