Molex?s Solder Charge" SMT Technology Named Product of the Year by Electronic Products Magazine

LISLE, Ill.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--[ Molex Incorporated ] (NASDAQ:MOLX) (NASDAQ:MOLXA) today announced it was honored with an Electronic Products' Product of the Year award for its Solder Charge surface mount attach technology.

The editors of Electronic Products — a leading trade publication for electronic design engineers — evaluated thousands of products launched in 2008. The winning products were selected on the basis of innovative design, significant advancement in technology or application and substantial achievement in price and performance. Molex's patent-pending Solder Charge technology demonstrated success in all categories by offering better compliancy, less solder-joint stress, higher yields, improved fatigue strength and bonds that are three times stronger than traditional ball-grid array (BGA) technology.

In an overview of the Products of the Year Awards in the January issue of Electronic Products, Managing Editor Bryan DeLuca stated: "Molex's Solder Charge surface-mount attach technology is more precise than melting a solder ball onto a metal lead. It also is designed to improve yields and decrease scrap costs."
