ACS Named Employer of the Year by Goodwill Industries of Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--[ Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. ] (NYSE: ACS) has been named Employer of the Year by [ Goodwill Industries of Kentucky ] for the company's efforts to recruit, hire and train people with disabilities.

ACS is being honored for its commitment to hire and promote those with disabilities, its willingness to provide accommodations to facilitate employment of workers with disabilities, its desire to become involved in the development of training programs for employees with disabilities, and its commitment to integrating people with disabilities with other employees.

ACS will receive the award at an invitation-only event on Friday, February 20, 2009 at noon. The ceremony will take place at the Claudia Sanders Dinner House located at 3202 Shelbyville Road in Shelbyville, Kentucky (40065).

In 2008, ACS received the Employer of the Year Award from the state of Utah and the Partnership of the Year Award from the Kentucky Office for the Blind in recognition of its efforts to hire people with disabilities.

ACS has hired 200 people through this initiative since the program began in March 2008. The company has a dedicated team of six recruiters helping more than 30 ACS locations in the U.S. to recruit, hire and promote people with disabilities. The team of diversity recruiters has established partnerships with more than 300 agencies nationwide that support people with disabilities. ACS recently expanded its disability hiring program to begin working with agencies in Louisville, London, Monticello, Richmond and Pikeville, Kentucky and Indianapolis and Anderson, Indiana.

ACS employs approximately 4,000 people in Kentucky making it one of the largest private employers in the state.
