OTEGLOBE launched its Transbalkan Network (TBN) last year to connect Greece and the Balkans with central Europe and western Europe. With a unique geographical position between the Middle East and Europe, OTEGLOBE needed a fully protected, highly reliable, next generation network to provide international wholesale telecom services to other telecom operators and large enterprises in southeastern Europe and beyond.
OTEGLOBE has been experiencing a rapid increase in IP traffic, driven mainly by European customers and a growing volume of Middle Eastern business as broadband penetration continues to increase rapidly in the region. OTEGLOBE selected Infinera for its 7,000 kilometer Transbalkan Network because Infinera's digital architecture delivers the speed and scalability to accommodate rapid demand growth combined with the manageability and flexibility to accommodate many different services in a single platform. Infinera's large-scale photonic integrated circuits enable the Infinera system to support large networks with a highly scalable solution while at the same time delivering economies in space, power, and cost consumption and ease of operation.
