CHESTNUT RIDGE, N.Y.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--[ LeCroy Corporation ] (NASDAQ: LCRY), a leading supplier of oscilloscopes and serial data test solutions, today announced the launch of its PeRT3 Test System, which is designed to meet the test needs of engineers working with serial data transceivers and other high-speed serial data communication systems. Addressing the space between physical layer test and protocol test, the PeRT3(Protocol-enabled Receiver and Transmitter Tolerance Tester)complements the existing LeCroy oscilloscope, serial data analyzer and protocol test product lines to deliver complete characterization of emerging designs in development or automated test environments.

"The PeRT3 Test System is the first of LeCroy's Protocol Solutions Group's next-generation products to combine the industry-leading features of both our oscilloscope and protocol product lines into a single 'best-of-both-worlds' product offering," said LeCroy President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Reslewic. "This new class of instruments was developed through the synergy between LeCroy's electrical test and protocol test technologies to establish a new market for the Company that complements its existing product lines. We believe the space between the scope and protocol markets is generally untapped and offers a significant market opportunity for LeCroy."

The PeRT3 combines the functions and features of a signal generator, bit error rate tester (BERT), protocol editor and data analysis system—all in one product. The combination of these features provides customers with the ability to perform comprehensive and fully automated testing of transceivers and electronic systems, not only to confirm adherence to specifications, but also to examine the entire performance envelope of the system under test. The PeRT3 system provides multichannel support with independent jitter profiles and analysis for each channel. Serial data standard support includes protocol handshake, loop-back and Frame Error Rate as well as receiver compliance testing for PCI Express®, SATA, SAS and USB 3.0.
