PORTLAND, Ore.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Chrome® Systems Inc., a subsidiary of DealerTrack Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: TRAK) and an industry leader in managing automotive data, today announced the launch of a new and more powerful version of its Automotive Description Service (ADS) designed to meet the needs of auto remarketers.

Chrome's ADS instantly translates VINs into comprehensive make, model, trim, equipment descriptions and vehicle imagery, providing a fast and cost-effective way to describe vehicles. "VIN-less" decoding is also available if the customer simply enters a vehicle's year, make, model and trim.

With the enhanced version of ADS, customers can access a greatly expanded range of data, including torque, dimensions, weight, extended option descriptions, full OEM exterior color codes, warranty information, and region-specific models and styles. In addition, users will now be able to describe equipment found on their inventory as non-original. Since non-original equipment can profoundly impact a vehicle's resale value, this feature gives users a finer level of detail so they can more accurately represent the true content on their vehicles.

The enhanced version of ADS also exposes the "chain of installation" for vehicle equipment, enabling users to identify which features come with particular equipment or packages. This level of insight enables a vehicle inspector at an auction company, for example, to describe vehicles more precisely in their inspection reports, ultimately leading to increased sales and fewer arbitration cases or cancelled sales.

"This enhanced version of our Automotive Description Service is a leap forward in accessing complete and comprehensive vehicle descriptions from a VIN, or from vehicle year, make, model, and trim," said Pete Batten, General Manager of Chrome Systems. "Our ability to offer one-to-one vehicle matching is unparalleled in the industry, and with this new version of ADS, customers will have even more data points to describe their vehicles more accurately."
