SAN JOSE, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Tessera Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSRA), today announced that, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, it will demonstrate a collection of FotoNation® intelligent scene analysis technologies, which improve image quality and make mobile phone picture taking faster and easier.

The FotoNation technologies automatically identify an image's main features and enable the camera to select a scene mode. Based on the information it has gathered, the camera performs necessary adjustments prior to capturing the images, without the need for user input. This means that the user can take a picture with the scene settings automatically adjusted without having to navigate through complex menus.

The technologies identify settings that include portraits, night scenes, landscapes, backlighting, object motion and camera motion. They provide instant feedback, enabling the camera to automatically adjust focus, exposure, aperture color balance and flash settings. The collective results of this feedback intelligently control and improve image quality.

"Our FotoNation technology is bringing digital still camera features and image quality to mobile phones without the need for complex menu set-ups," said Michael Bereziuk, executive vice president, Imaging & Optics, Tessera. "The small form factor of today's mobile phone, coupled with the phone users need for ease of use, means that these image enhancement features need to be highly automated. Intelligent scene analysis technology will bring us one step closer to being able to take high-quality photos, on the spot, with the push of a button."

Tessera will demonstrate its FotoNation image analysis technologies in its Booth # 21D40 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, February 16-19, 2009.
