


RCN Corporation: RCN to Sponsor American Diabetes Association's Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes Event in Washington, D.C. Area

RCN promoted the local Tour de Cure event with a minimum of 200 cross-channel public service announcements (PSA) running on 33 networks from April 28 - June 14, 2009. In addition, RCN will run 300 cross-channel PSAs on 33 networks, promoting the ADA's Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes event in Washington, D.C., from September 15 - to October 23, 2009. Last year, RCN also committed $25,000 but the actual cross channel spots for 2008 totaled $108,850. The ad time comes from the inventory allotted for RCN's charitable and own corporate promotions.

At this year's Reston Tour de Cure, which offered five different route options (from a 1-12 Mile Family Fun Ride to a 100 Mile Century ride), RCN sponsored a six person team and hosted a sponsorship table.
The Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes in Washington, D.C. is the largest of the walks that will be held in cities across the U.S. this fall. An expected 3,000 D.C. metro residents have a goal to raise over $450,000 and will join together on October 24, 2009 at Nationals Park to walk two miles around the stadium and the National Riverfront on a course accessible to people of all ages and levels of mobility.
