ADC Enters Partnership with West Plains Telecommunications for Fiber-to-the-Home Network
MINNEAPOLIS--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Leading global connectivity solutions provider ADC (NASDAQ:ADCT) ([ www.adc.com ]) is working with Muleshoe, Texas-based West Plains Telecommunications to expand its fiber broadband capabilities and eventually offer broadband video. West Plains has mapped a five-year plan to build an advanced fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network and expects the first cut-over to the new fiber infrastructure by the year's end.
"We feel confident the ADC equipment is going to be in our plant for years to come because of the way it's engineered, designed and built," said Mark Washington, plant manager for West Plains. "Our five-year fiber build-out plan will allow us to expand our service offerings to include increasingly higher-bandwidth applications. With ADC we not only have quality assurance, but also dedicated customer service throughout the entire process."
Currently, West Plains Telecommunications' operating territory covers 511 square miles spanning four counties and provides services to about 5,200 business and residential customers. The company also provides six schools in its territory with broadband services, including high-speed Internet access and interactive video (ITV).
"West Plains is playing it smart by preparing for the inevitable pressures that will come as consumers in their service territory demand advanced data and video services," said Pat Thompson, director of core connectivity solutions for ADC. "Our customers know that ADC will have the solutions and the installation expertise for all their fiber deployment needs."
West Plains' central office features ADC's Fiber Distribution Frame panels and FiberGuide® System, which are part of ADC's central office product suite. For the outside plant, West Plains chose ADC's OmniReach® Fiber Distribution Hubs 3000 Series and Fiber Access Terminals, which have proven to handle the dry, dusty winds of West Texas. West Plains has collaborated with ADC in the past for rehabilitation work on its central-office fiber-transport equipment and continues to partner with ADC because of its excellent track record in the market.
