3 sent to jail in Pabna over gang-rape of PUST student

A Pabna court sentenced three individuals to life imprisonment for the gang rape of a female student from Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) in 2021. The incident occurred when the victim was lured to a house in the Hemayetpur area of Pabna on the pretext of a birthday celebration. The convicts, identified as Md Al Amin, Md Firoz, and Md Ariful Islam, were also fined Tk 100,000 each. The court's decision came after the victim's testimony and medical evidence confirmed the assault. The case has drawn significant attention to issues of campus safety and justice for victims of sexual violence in Bangladesh.
